I question my doing

Recently I always wonder why I study in the humanities? Maybe studying in the computer science or the electronics engineering is easier. At least, job opportunities are abundant in careers. For natural sciences, it seems every thory contains its strong and clear definition and logic leads the way. Questions can be answered with some statistics or a set of numbers from the result of experiments; however, it doesn't work in disciplines of social sciences. Critical thinking is the kernel of humanities; even the logic has to yield a way. We critisize and deconstruct the conclusions or assumptions of the past thinkers. The procedure of thinking is interesting, but what left is another presumptions that will be overthrown by thinkers of the next generation. They will stand on our shoulders.

For the world, we are still powerless as an ant. By the Renaissance, the idea of enlightment cultivates human beings with rationalism. If it is not false, why wars still happen? I don't deny the value of humanities, but just feel powerless towards the world and about what I am doing and studying. None the less, I know humanities converge the different cultures exisiting in the world and maintain human societies. The civilization cannot run with only the material stuff. Without some other spiritual nutrition, it goes to the direction of crash.
